I woke up at 4:30 AM this morning to spend the day making photographs in Grafton, West Virginia. Although I didn’t get shoot because of technical issues, I was able to hunt down the location where Joel Sternfeld made the above photograph back in 1983. Standing where he stood nearly thirty years ago was pretty incredible. Finding this was enough to make the trip a success, but I can’t wait to get back there and make my own work.
